William A. "Bill" Jenkins

William A. “Bill” Jenkins, age 84 of Dupont, passed away at The Waters of Clifty Falls on Saturday, March, 1, 2014. Born July 19, 1929 in Jefferson County, he was the son of Alfred and Virgie (Smith) Jenkins. On September 11, 1954 in Madison, Bill married Marjorie F. Konkle. Bill spent his life as a farmer and had served the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting birds and squirrel and was an avid arrowhead collector. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Margie, daughter Deanna Calvert and her husband Robert of Scottsburg; three grandchildren, Marilyn (Steve) Haney of Scottsburg, William (Sandy) Bowyer of Scottsburg and Thomas (Regina) Bowyer of North Vernon; 1 sister Agatha Patterson of Jeffersonville. Bill also had 7 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Juanita Jenkins and Laverne Hostetler; and 1 great grandson, Michael “Bub” Haney. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5th, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Thursday from 10:00am until 11:00am at the Vail Holt Funeral Home at 117 Holt Drive. Services will be held at the Vail Chapel on Thursday at 11:00am. Burial will follow services at New Prospect Cemetery.
