Wanda Jean (Kipp) Smith, age 84, a native of Louisville, KY and a resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on January 24, 1938 to the late Charles Kipp Jr. and the late Peggy (England) Kipp. She was a longtime member of Little York Christian Church. Simply put, Wanda loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was the life of the party and had quick wit and humor. She was fun and witty and loved country music, especially Gene Watson, whom she met personally and greeted him with her amazing smile. Her favorite thing to do was to take care of her family, she loved them each dearly and enjoyed cooking for them. The family will forever treasure her liver and onions, taters, meat, greens and good old fashions country cooking. She was an amazing seamstress and made clothes for her children and baby blankets for all the babies in the family. She was "mama bear" to the family and a momma figure to many that she loved as her very own. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she forever impacted.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 66 years, Merlin "Ben" Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana, two daughters, Susie Smith and Sandy Smith both of Scottsburg, Indiana. Four grandchildren, Thomas Smith, Chad Baxter and his wife Ariane, Abby Webber and her husband Lance and Margaret Buchanan. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and many others that she loved as her own children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at the Little York Cemetery.
