Walter J. Hurtt, Jr., age 76 of Seymour and formerly of Little York, passed away on Friday, January 16th in Seymour. Born May 11, 1938 in Perry County, Kentucky, he was the son of Walter J. Sr. and Lairdicie “Pokie” (Jones) Hurtt. From the age of 7 he was raised by Harley and Bernice Hawn. On December 12, 1993 in Little York, he married Sharon K. Lawson. Jr. was retired from Force Construction where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Seymour Christian Church and loved hunting and always stayed busy tinkering around the house. He loved traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife Sharon; sons, Greg Hurtt of North Vernon and David (Missy) Bruck of Scottsburg; daughters, Rhonda (Jeff) Medlock of Salem; brother, Otha Hurtt of Kentucky; sister, Lois Cunningham of Little York and June Jones of Scottsburg; grandchildren, Kim Couch, Jesse (Mandy) Bruck, Terra Land, Levi Medlock; great granddaughter, Elise Summer Rutledge; Jr. was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, Harley and Bernice; brothers, Aaron, Estill, Tilman, Shelby; sisters, Clara, Allie, Maude, Dorothy. Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of Jr's life will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 3:00pm with a time for gathering and fellowship from 1:00pm until service time.
