Virgie Lee Alcorn, age 95 of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, April 17th at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. Born January 3, 1917 in Valley Oak, Kentucky, she was the daughter of John F. and Viola (Sowder) McKinney. Virgie was married to Robert Lee Alcorn for 35 years and he preceded her in death in 1992. Virgie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity Pentecostal Chapel in Seymour for over 20 years and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Virgie also enjoyed garage sales, quilting and sewing, being outside gardening and especially growing her tomatoes. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Gib) Claycamp of Seymour; four sons, Kennith Alcorn and Jack (Judy) Alcorn of Seymour, Jerry Alcorn and Arvil (Ruby) Alcorn of Pleasant Plain, OH. Virgie is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, a son James Alcorn, a daughter Etta Faye, a grandson, and seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Thursday, April 19th from 10:00am until noon at Trinity Pentecostal Chapel located at 1013 W. Laurel Street in Seymour. Services will be at noon with Pastor Larry Dalton officiating. Burial will follow services in St. Paul Methodist Cemetery in Sunman, Indiana. Memorials can be made to the church.
