Vanessa Jo Smith

Vanessa Jo Smith, age 29, a native of Seymour, Indiana and a resident of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Schneck Medical Center. She was born on September 25, 1992 to Donald Smith and Amy (Sheldon) Hanners. She was a member of Hilltop Pentecostal Church. Vanessa will forever be remembered as a loving, caring, free spirited girl that loved to laugh and was always the center of the party. She enjoyed crafting, music, and she loved to cook and clean. The family will forever treasure her taco salad, spaghetti, pork chops and mashed potatoes. Of all that she loved in this life, nothing compared to the love she had for her children.
She is survived by her parents, her four children, Miah Smith, Derin Smith, Donavan Deckard and Conner Deckard. Three brothers, Brian Douglas and his wife Azalia of Seymour, Indiana, Dillon Smith of North Vernon, Indiana and Zachary Floyd of Tennessee. One sister, Courtany Hensley and her husband Joshua of Seymour, Indiana. Paternal grandmother, Debbie Issacs and her husband Marty of Arkansas and Maternal grandparents, Alvin and Janet Fields of Brownstown, Indiana that raised her as their very own.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Donald W. Smith and Maternal grandfather, Edward Root.
In keeping with the wishes of Vanessa, the family has chosen cremation and a celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Broadway Pentecostal Church in Austin, Indiana from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with services beginning at 6:00 PM with Pastor John Bowling Jr. officiating. She will be laid to rest at Uniontown Cemetery.
