Thomas Harrell Bate, age 78, a native of Greensburg, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his residence. He was the son of the late Emerson “Cletis” Bate and the late Elinor Harrell Bate. He was a Baptist by faith. He Served his Country proudly in the Army National Guard and worked for over 15 years as a service manager for Biehle Electric. Thomas will forever be remembered as a very generous man that was known for his witty and dry sense of humor. He loved to tell people that his name was “Maytag, because he loved to agitate”.
He loved riding motorcycles, taking road trips and playing basketball. In his younger years he loved drag racing and holds some national records. He also loved IU Basketball.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Carolyn Jones Bate of Seymour, Indiana. One Son, Terry Bate of Elizabethtown, Indiana. One Step-Son, Michael Brown of Pennsylvania and One Step – Daughter, Julie Jones of Tallahassee, Florida. Two Brothers, Michael Bate and his wife Katie of Williamstown, SC and Richard Bate and his wife Marie of Nicholasville, KY. Four Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, One granddaughter Sarah bate and One Step Grandson Brandon Burke.
The family will receive friends on Friday November 6, 2020 from 10:00 am until 1:00pm at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Friday November 6, 2020 at 1:00pm at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour, Indiana with burial to follow at Otter Creek Cemetery in Nebraska, Indiana.
