Simon E. Delph Jr.

Simon E. "Jr" Delph, Jr., age 78 of Brownstown, passed away at 4:09pm Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Schneck Medical Center with his family surrounding his bedside. Born May 7, 1934 in London, Kentucky, he was the son of Simon and Zema (Barnett) Delph, Sr. On December 30, 2009 in Medora, Jr. married Sharon Smith. Jr. loved collecting CB radios and chatting using handles of Muleskinner in the 1970s and Old Paw in recent years. He loved being around his grandkids and great-grandkids and even gave them CB handles. Survivors include his wife Sharon; 10 Children, Ronna M. Hobbs of Seymour, John (Zalie) Smith of Brownstown, Raygine (Norman) Bennett of Brownstown, Kathy (Jim) Miller of Medora, Mary (David) Hallett of Brownstown, Michelle (Rob) Thompson of Brownstown, Betty (Tom) Branaman of Kurtz, Walter Dean Delph of Medora, Mona (Robert) Taylor of Freetown, Glen Delph of Seymour and Norenea Williams of Seymour. Jr. also had two sisters, Maddie (Bill) Wheeler and Joyce (Herschel) Bernard all of Seymour; three brothers, Lonnie (Joann) Delph, Walter (Jean) Delph and Larry Delph all of Brownstown. He also had 22 grandkids and 38 great-grandkids. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, a son Harold Delph, a granddaughter Lisa Marie Delph, a brother Arlie Delph and his best friend John Smith. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Midway Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Medora care of the funeral home. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre is handling the arrangements.
