Obituary for Roy W. Sandefur Roy W. Sandefur, age 78 passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at his home. Born August 22, 1934 in North Vernon, Indiana, he was the son of Ray and Ethel (Jackson) Sandefur. On November 14, 1954 in Brownstown he married Shirley Bowman. Roy retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1993 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Reddington Christian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. Some of Roy's hobbies included bowling, painting, and he loved to work on and collect clocks of all kinds. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Shirley; four children, Cheryl Elliott and Georgia Sharpe both of Tennessee, Brenda (Kent) Bell of Seymour and David (Kathy) Sandefur of Ellettsville. Grandchildren, Benjamin Elliott, Phillip (Yanique) Elliott, Stasie (Randy) Holder, Stephen (Jennifer) Sharpe, Monica (Ben) Whitehead, Paul Bell, Emily (Craig) Smith, Julie Sandefur, Karyn Sandefur and Eric Sandefur; Great-grandchildren, Haley and Robert Nathan Holder, Sadie and Sophie Sharpe, and Lillyann, Theodore and Lydia Whitehead. Roy is also survived by one sister, Alberta (Leo) Thompson of Seymour. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Max (Yvonne) Sandefur and a son in law, Gary Elliott. Pastor Scott Brown will conduct a memorial service at 6:30pm on Thursday, December 6th at the Reddington Christian Church. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
