Roy T. Eldridge, age 90 of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus. Born November 29, 1928 in Seymour, he was the son of Charles Albert and Mary Katherine (Stabb) Eldridge.
Roy graduated from Seymour High School and then attended business school before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a Staff Sgt in the 101st Airborne Division and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Cummins Engine Company where he served as a journeyman toolmaker until his retirement after 24 years of service.
After retirement, Roy moved to Bradenton, Florida and stayed before moving back to Seymour. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Masonic Lodge #146, Shriners, Scottish Rite, York Rite, American Legion and Elks Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Suzette Eldridge and son Terry Eldridge both of Seymour; grandchildren, Ginger Allman, Lance West, Shane Eldridge and Brett Eldridge; nephews, Frank Eldridge, Lane Eldridge, Mike Eldridge, Tim Eldridge and niece, Billie Trimpe. Roy also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Sonia Eldridge; brothers, Albert, Bill, Melvin, Lawrence, Dale and Frances Eldridge and nephew, Danny Eldridge.
Masonic Services and a Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am Saturday, January 12th at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Friends can visit from 10:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Memorials can be made at the funeral home to choice of Alzheimer’s Association, Christian Men’s Fellowship Scholarship Fund, Central Christian Church or to Masonic Lodge #146.
