Apostle Ronald Keith Evans

September 17, 1938 — September 30, 2024

Seymour

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Apostle Ronald Keith Evans, a dedicated servant of God, friend to many, and a cherished family man, who left this world on September 30, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center, at the age of 86. Born on September 17, 1938, in Batesville, Indiana, Ronald's life was one of unwavering faith and service.

Ronald’s commitment to his community and the Lord was profound. He served as the former Pastor of the Seymour Family Worship Center for over 15 years, nurturing and guiding countless individuals on their spiritual journeys. His dedication extended beyond the pulpit; for more than 29 years, he was a respected member of the Indiana State Police, retiring on September 30, 1993. He also held the esteemed position of Chaplain for the Seymour City Council and was the past Director of Transportation for South Ripley County Schools. Adding to his legacy, he served as the chaplain for Todd's Place Rehabilitation Center and provided compassionate care as a Hospice Chaplain for Schneck Hospice.

Ronald was not only a leader within his community but also a compassionate soul who loved missions work for the Lord. His heart led him to faraway places such as Africa, Haiti, and Bolivia, where he dedicated his time to helping those in need and sharing the Gospel. He left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

A graduate of Versailles High School in 1956, Ronald carried forth a zest for life that resonated with everyone around him. Whenever asked how he was doing, he would greet the question with a warm smile and respond, “fantastic!” Never a stranger to anyone, he had a remarkable ability to connect with people, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Ronald is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Pam Evans (Hutchinson) of Seymour, Indiana; his beloved daughters, Belinda Lawburgh and her husband John of Versailles, Joanna Sawalich and her husband Mike of Kentucky, Angela Sadler and her husband Mark of Indiana; his stepdaughter Kaley Caudill and her fiancé Brett Scott of Madison, Indiana; and sister-in-law Arlene Evans of Versailles, Indiana. He was also the proud grandfather of twenty grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph "Whit" and Mable (Keith) Evans; his son Eric Keith Evans; stepson Christopher Caudill; brother James E. Evans; and the mother of his children, Norma Jean "Jeanie" (Huelson) Evans. Their memories will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ronald’s life at the visitation on October 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 6:00 PM, both held at Christensen Family Funeral Home, located at 311 Holiday Square Road, Seymour, Indiana 47274. He will be laid to rest at Old Regular Baptist Church Cemetery.

As we bid farewell to Apostle Ronald Keith Evans, we remember a life filled with love, service, and faith—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His warm spirit and compassionate heart will be dearly missed, but his influence will carry on through the many lives he touched along his extraordinary journey.

The Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
