Roger Edward Patterson, age 71, passed away on August 20, 2024, at his Scottsburg residence. He was born on January 14, 1953, in Plymouth, New Hampshire, to the late Raymond Patterson and the late Geraldine (Houghton) Patterson.
Roger attended Bethel Baptist Church of Leota and was a long-time, faithful member of the men’s choir, known as the “Bethel Boys Band”. In 2003, he married the love of his life, Catharine “Carrie” R. (Lane) Patterson, and loved her children as his very own. He was exceptionally supportive of his kid’s school endeavors and was their biggest fan and cheerleader.
Roger was a handyman and enjoyed doing projects of any kind. As an outdoors person, he especially liked to hunt and fish, always including his family in the activities and making them laugh. He was known as a strong, faithful provider, and very helpful. With a heart that responded to needs, he was always there with a helping hand and never expected anything in return.
He is survived by his wife, Catharine (Lane) Patterson; three sons: CJ Patterson of New Hampshire, Jimmy Ballard and his wife Brenna of Wisconsin, and Aaron Ballard and his wife Colleen of Borden, Indiana; three daughters: Cassandra Patterson of New Hampshire, Courtney Quinn of New Hampshire, and Christienne Patterson of Scottsburg, Indiana; one sister: Charlotte Mottram of Colorado; eleven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son: Tyler Ballard; one brother: Ray Patterson, and one sister: Florence Daigle.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church of Leota, with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.
