Rick Hamilton

November 16, 1956 — November 17, 2019

James R. “Rick” Hamilton, 63 of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Bloomington, Indiana, with his loving family at his side. He was born November 16, 1956, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Doris Day (James Greathouse) and James Hamilton both of whom survive.
Rick graduated from Brownstown Central High School and retired from Muscatatuck State Hospital after 27 years of service. He greatly enjoyed going to flea markets, junk stores and Goodwill. He loved making crafts and got a lot of joy from cooking and testing his recipes on his family. A very special person in Rick’s life was his great-nephew, Cooper Brandenburg, who always kept him laughing and doing things that were not allowed. Rick was always known for doing the unexpected just to see the look on your face. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him especially his mother and Cooper.
He is survived by his parents, one brother, David Hamilton, nieces, Chasity (David) Babbitt, Nikki (John) Eubanks, Tonya Peters, Ashley Brandenburg and Kalynn Hamilton; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mosier and Retha Kirts, Isaac and Gertrude Hamilton; aunts, Dinah Charles and Sharon Lucas; his special friend, Jim Stewart and sister-in-law, Donna Hamilton.
Friends and family may call at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
