Richard W. Phillips, 83 of Vallonia, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at his residence. Born October 7, 1936 in Bloomington he was the son of Benjamin and Ethel (Honeycutt) Phillips.
Richard enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He entered the automotive industry after graduation at Arvins, Cummins and eventually retired form Visteon.
Survivors include his children Tom Andis of Seymour, Kitty (Rick) Foster of Medora, Becky Andis of Bloomington, Janet Murphy (Rick Rickard) of Seymour and Robert Phillips (Wayne Vice) of Seymour; his grandchildren, Haven Andis, Hailey Andis, Holly (Casami) Johnson, Keith (Jezzie) Robbins, Tyler (Allyson) Andis, Andy(Bonnie) Washam, Christy (Brent) Emily, Joey (Ashley) Murphy, Betsy Foster and Dennis (Bobbie) Carpenter; his siblings, Sarah Kay Philips, Marie Simon, Delbert (Joyce) Phillips and Mandy Duttlinger; 14 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandkids; several nieces and nephews and their beloved dog they’ve had for 11 years “Rusty”.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse of over 50 years, Bess Phillips; daughter LeeAnn Carpenter; grandchild Travis Foster and one great-great grandson A.J. Washam.
Services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Sunday or from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials can be made at the funeral home to the Jackson County Humane Society, Schneck Hospice Fund or Medora Goes Pink.
