Richard Sawyer Dye

Richard Sawyer Dye, age 58, a native of Harrisonville, Missouri and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at IU Methodist Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on June 4, 1965 and was the son of the late Earl Dye and the late Gayla (Eastham) Dye. Richard was a faithful member of The Point Church and a 1983 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Richard served as a former police officer for the Brownstown Police Department and also a former jailer for the Jackson County Sheriffs Department. He was a very patriotic man that loved his country dearly. He was passionate, outspoken man with a soft heart. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Richard enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was quite the gun collector. Above all, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tammy Dye of Seymour, Indiana, one son, Blake Dye and his wife Brooke of Seymour, Indiana and one daughter, Scarlet Henry of Seymour, Indiana. two brothers, Jimmie Dye and his wife Cindy of Missouri and Greg Bush of North Carolina. Two sisters, Shelly Breeding and her husband Joe of Missouri and Rebecca Gulliford and her husband Eric of Missouri. 

Four grandchildren, Linkin Royalty, Zoey Royalty, Sophia Dye and Ava Dye.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 7:00 PM.
