Pastor Kelly Reed

November 23, 1942 — October 11, 2024

Pastor Kelly Jahew Reed, age 81, a beloved figure and cherished servant of the Lord, was born on November 23, 1942, in the tranquil town of Crab Orchard, Kentucky. He departed this world on October 11, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family. His life, a tapestry woven with the fibers of faith and kindness, reached a profound culmination after over three decades of dedicated service as the Pastor of Uniontown Victory Tabernacle.

In 1970, a transformative moment occurred when God pulled Pastor Reed from a past steeped in sin, guiding him toward a calling that would define his existence: to be a preacher of the Gospel. From that day forward, his conversations naturally gravitated toward the teachings of Jesus, embodying the essence of a “Jesus Man.” His infectious love for the Lord inspired those around him and created a ripple effect of faith that will resonate for generations. Pastor Reed had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and heard; indeed, he never met a stranger.

Pastor Reed's talents extended beyond the pulpit; he found solace in music, strumming his guitar with a passion for old-fashioned Gospel singing that uplifted hearts and souls alike. His boisterous laughter and delightful sense of humor made him the life of any gathering, a source of joy who could always light up the room. He was not just a great preacher; he was an excellent provider and a rock for his loved ones during life’s storms, a man who generously poured out strength and peace, especially when times grew tough.

He worked diligently to support the evangelists who graced his church with their messages of truth, saving diligently to ensure their needs were met—a true testament to his unyielding generosity and love for people. Pastor Reed’s warmth was matched only by his commitment to those he loved, whether they be family or members of his congregation.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie (Masden) Reed of Rineyville, Kentucky; his cherished sons, Matthew Reed of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Mark Reed with his wife Kelly of Crothersville, Indiana, as well as his son Dewayne Sullivan of Louisville, Kentucky, and Allen Sullivan of French Lick, Indiana. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Shela Shelton and her husband Orville of Austin, Indiana, Kelley Hensley and her husband Paul of Crothersville, Indiana, Peggy Deaton and her husband William of Leesville, Indians. Rhonda Lopez and her husband Hector of Radcliffe, Kentucky, and Tonya Branham of Bardstown, Kentucky. His legacy continues through his 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by his immense love.

Pastor Reed was preceded in death by his father, Jahew Reed, his mother, Betty (Denny) Reed, his first wife and the mother of his children, LaVerne (Hodge) Reed and several cherished family members including his son Troy Reed, brothers Charlie, Junior, and Roy Reed, and sister Allene Campbell. Their memories live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
