Rebecca Berniece Copeland Andress, age 88 of Hanover, passed away on Friday, September 26th at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Born October 22, 1925 in Belleview, Indiana, she was the daughter of Herbert M. and Myrtle Jessie (Williams) Copeland. On June 8, 1945 in Madison, Rebecca married John C. Andress who passed on January 22, 2000. Rebecca was a founding member of the Madison congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was also instrumental in the location and building project of the church. In church, she was the former President of the Relief Society and was very active in various other areas. She enjoyed genealogy and playing bridge and was also a painter and loved art. She was a Girl Scout Leader and was active in her daughter’s grade school garden club. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Colin) Meyer and Karen (Roderick) Harrell both of Madison; three grandchildren, John Roderick (Melanie) Harrell, Adrienne (Richard) Nudo and Charles Harrell; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Nudo and Trevor Smith; a sister, Ruth Copeland Auxier; a sister in law, Geneva and an “adopted son” Michael (Cindy) Sutliff. Rebecca was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, husband John and a brother who passed at infancy. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday at Woodlawn-Vail Funeral Chapel, 117 Holt Dr. and from 10:00am until 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1155 Michigan Road in Madison. Bishop Richard Johnson will conduct services will be at 11:00am on Thursday, October 2nd at the church. Burial will follow services at Hebron Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the John C. and Rebecca C. Andress Memorial Scholarship Fund or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
