Patsy A. "Patty" Martin

November 14, 1951 — December 19, 2023

 

Patsy Ann Pennington - Martin “Patty” age 72, a lifelong resident of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away December 19, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, with loved ones by her side.


She was the daughter of the late Kelly and Zelma Pennington and was born at the old Napper Hospital on the Scottsburg square. She was a graduate of Scottsburg High School in 1969 and a 1980 graduate of Prosser Nursing School and worked in the Havens Medical Group of Jeffersonville over 20 years before moving on to The American Red Cross, Behavioral Healthcare and Assisted Living fields of healthcare, lastly before retiring, she worked at Scott Memorial Hospital. After retiring she volunteered for Hospice of Southern Indiana for 15 years. She worked as a Nurse for over 38 years. Nursing was most definitely her calling in life


Even in death, she was still helping those in need by her wishes to be an organ donor. The day Patty passed, she helped save several lives. Patty’s love, kindness and genuine true compassion for others made her a Very Special Lady.


Patty was truly remarkable and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her was blessed. Patty was not only kind to people but also had great compassion and love for animals. Her four-legged fur-baby and trusted companion Patch, crossed Rainbow Bridge in recent years, she absolutely spoiled him rotten.


Patty is the daughter of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. Patty was the Best Mother, Sister, Sister in Law, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, Co-Worker, Neighbor and Earthly Angel. Affectionately nicknamed “Patty Pooh” by her nieces and nephews. She loved her nickname.


In her free time, Patty enjoyed finding “ Treasures” at yard sales & flea markets. She also enjoyed solving Word Find puzzles & found great comfort reading her Bible daily.


Survivors Include: Her loving son Matthew Martin of Florida, sisters Kay Haven and Lisa Gibson of Scottsburg, sister-in-law Donna Pennington of Freetown, brother Wayne Pennington of Bethel, Ohio, brother Dean Pennington of Brierly, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.



Preceded in Death: Grandparents James and Martha Odom, Alexander and Arminty Bell Pennington, parents Kelly and Zelma Pennington, brothers Roger and Olen Pennington, sister Clella Goforth, brother-in-law Robert Goforth, brother-in-law Rick Haven, and sister-in-law Gertie Pennington.


A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Christensen - Hoagland Funeral Home with services beginning at 6:00 PM. A meal will be held following at Turning Point Church.
