Patricia Deaton, an extraordinary woman whose vibrant spirit and unwavering love illuminated the lives of those around her, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 2, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on March 1, 1952, in the serene landscapes of Perry County, Kentucky, Patricia grew to embody a tapestry of qualities that made her truly unforgettable—a loving, funny, strong, and compassionate soul with a delightful spitfire side that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A Christian, Patricia was as devoted to her faith as she was to her eclectic treasures. Her deep-seated passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, M&M's, and wolves reflected her colorful personality and zest for life. She found joy in the simple act of dancing and brought warmth into the hearts of family and friends through her culinary talents. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where the aroma of her famed chicken and dumplings and biscuits and gravy—comfort foods that defined her nurturing spirit—wrapped around her loved ones like a warm embrace. She loved working at JayC Food Stores for over 30 years, where she was such a blessing to the customers.
Patricia's legacy will forever resonate in the lives of her family. She is survived by her son, Steven Pike and his wife Melissa, of Pekin, Indiana, and her daughter, Patricia “Trish” Garland and her husband Russell, of Seymour, Indiana. One brother, Tommy Deaton and his Vanda of Manchester, KY. The joy of her life flourished in the laughter of her five grandchildren—Kylie Clark, Cory Pike, Trista McCreery, Zackary Hawn, and Samantha Hawn—as well as in the innocent play of her four great-grandchildren, Henry, Kaleb, Marceline, and Amelia, with another grandchild eagerly anticipated.
While delighted by her family, Patricia also carried the memories of those who have gone before her. She was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Deaton; her mother, Edna Vires Deaton; and her siblings James, Jimmy, Genevieve, and Kaye. Each day with Patricia was a gift, and her absence leaves a profound void, but her fierce love, provocative humor, and strength will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to call her family and friends.
As the sun sets on the life of Patricia Deaton, it rises on the cherished memories she leaves behind—a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and an unyielding spirit. In the hearts of her family, she will live on, an everlasting flame comforting them, guiding them, and reminding them of the remarkable woman who graced their lives with her presence.
The family has chosen cremation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Daniel and Betsy Christensen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
