Patric Wayne Shimfessel

Patric Wayne Shimfessel, age 76 of Madison, passed away on Saturday, May 17th at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born April 5, 1938, he was the son of Henry M. and Lena M. (Luckett) Shimfessel. On September 30th at St. Mary’s in Madison, he married Martha Jane Hunger, who survives. Pat graduated from Dupont High School in 1956 and attended Purdue University. He was also a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Fairplay Fire Company #1 joining on November 3, 1968. Pat retired in 1998 as a Vice President and loan officer starting at Mite Federal Bank and later with River Valley Financial Bank. An avid fisherman, Pat was also a tobacco farmer and loved to watch Nascar and cooking. The most special thing to him in life was spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Patric is survived by his three children, son Fred, son Andrew, and his daughter Merritt and her husband Dean Guy. Patric was also blessed with three grandchildren, Milliken Guy, Patric Guy and Madison Shimfessel. Pat was also survived by a Cousin Gary (Linda) Shimfessel. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodlawn-Vail Funeral Chapel, 117 Holt Drive. FairPlay Fire Company #1 will conduct a service at 7:30pm on Tuesday followed by a Rosary Service by Father Chris. Christian Mass will be at Prince of Peace on Wednesday at 11:00am. Burial will follow services at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society thru the funeral home.
