Norman Bassett Norman William Bassett, age 80 of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his home in Seymour. Born June 2, 1934 in Shelby County, Indiana he was the son of William M. and Mildred (Fox) Bassett. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1952 and Ball State Teachers College in 1955. Norman was united in marriage to Mary Rose Wicker on August 29, 1954. He taught industrial arts at high schools in Bremen and Knightstown, Indiana. Norman was employed 33 years as an engineer for General Motors at Delco Remy and Guide Lamp in Anderson, Indiana and Monroe, Louisiana. He was a member of the Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meeting in Elizabethtown, Indiana. SURVIVORS He is survived by wife Mary Rose (Wicker) Bassett of Seymour; one daughter, Susan Rose Ginder and her husband Joseph of Long Beach, California; two sons, Robert Wayne Bassett and his wife Deanna of Lowell, Indiana and Herbert William Bassett and his wife Candice of Grayson, Louisiana; five grandchildren Thomas Robert Bassett of West Lafayette, Laura Susan You and her husband Vanrith of Long Beach, California, Benjamin Joseph Ginder and his wife Monica of Long Beach, California, Samuel Joseph Ginder and his wife Frances of Long Beach, California and Meaghan Elizabeth Miller of Columbus, Indiana; four great grandchildren Kylie Laura You, Ashlyn Rose You, Malea Jane You and Nathanial Leo Samuel Ginder all of Long Beach California and several nieces and nephews Norman was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son Thomas Norman Bassett in 1962 and two brothers, Robert Lee Bassett in 1933 and Paul Ernest Bassett in 2002 . SERVICES Funeral services will be held Monday February 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meeting in Elizabethtown, Indiana, with Interment in Liberty Cemetery north of Shelbyville, Indiana. VISITATION Friends and family may call at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre, 311 Holiday Square Road, in Seymour, Indiana Sunday February 22, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 9:30 AM to to the time of service at 10:30 at the church. EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY Memorial contributions can be made to the Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Church Library, American Parkinson Disease Association or Donor’ s Choice cards will be available at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre.
