Nettie “Jane” McIntosh

April 27, 1951 — December 6, 2024

Austin

Mrs. Nettie Jane McIntosh, age 73, of Austin, Indiana, entered this life on April 27, 1951, in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Alfred Elwood Lee, and Thelma Faye Gates Lee. She was raised in Scott County and graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1969. On May 12, 1972, she was united in marriage to Ronald McIntosh.

Jane enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, mowing, and taking pride in her lovely landscaped yard. She was quick to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Jane worked for 24 years at Walmart in Scottsburg, where she was a friendly face to many in the community. After her retirement, she stayed busy helping manage the family’s car lot. She was a kind, hardworking, and loving person who touched the lives of everyone she met. Jane passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Austin, Indiana on December 6, 2024. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jane could take any setting and turn it into a great memory. She always loved having friends and family over, and loved sitting on the porch, enjoying the beautiful warm days. It did not matter who you were, she could take any place and make it feel like a second home. Wherever she moved, the celebrations went with her and the parties felt the exact same. Whether she knew it or not, Jane was the backbone of our family. She was always organizing get-togethers, cooking, and putting together fun activities for us. Jane’s hospitality was second to none, and everyone benefited from her presence. She could create a hub of conversation effortlessly, and we all were able to keep in touch mainly due to her and her wonderful family functions.

Jane had an adventurous spirit and she loved going on vacations with her family. Whether those vacations consisted of another trip to Walt Disney World, or a Fourth of July trip to Florida, she was always the star of the show. Though she has gone to be with the Lord we will never truly lose her. Our memories of her will be a constant source of joy and love. Even if it is sad to look back and know those times have come to an end, it is beautiful to remember that they happened in the first place. That is all thanks to this spectacular woman.

Jane will be missed by her husband, Ronald McIntosh and her children, Tammy (James) Williams, Rhonda (John) Smith, Bud (Amy) McIntosh, and Rodney (Adrin) McIntosh; her grandchildren Trevor McIntosh, Konner McIntosh, Dylan Smith, Ashley Rice, and Adin Shelton; her sisters Dorothy Parker and Carolyn (Robert) Spellman; her brothers Donald Lee, Alfred “Junior” (Evelyn) Lee, and her brother-in-law Louis Lamb. She was preceded by the death of her father Alfred Elwood Lee, her mother Thelma Fawe Lee, her sisters Connie Jean Lamb and Linda Lou Deaton, and her brother Ronald “Mouse” Lee, her nephews Tracy Lee and Derek Allen Lamb, her niece Angie Lee, and her brother-in-law Byron Nay Parker.

Rest in peace Jane. You will be loved forever.
