Nell Hoskins

Nell Hoskins, age 95 of Scottsburg, passed away on Monday, September 29th at The Crossing in Seymour. Born September 9, 1919 in Combs, KY, she was the daughter of Addison Lee and Mary (Bitix) Thornton. On April 11, 1938 in Yerkes, KY, she was married to William McKinley “John” Hoskins. Some of her past times and enjoyments were quilting and raising her garden and flowers. She also took care of her grandson, Jason, which was a great joy in her life. Survivors include her sons, Fredis (Judy) Hoskins, Steve Hoskins and David Hoskins all of Scottsburg; daughters, Freda Smith of Uniontown, Elvira (Dennie) Black of Crothersville, Isabel White of Crestwood, KY, Mary Hendrix of Jennings County, Evelyn Maxie of Crothersville, Lyvon (Will) Watt of Spencer, IN and Lynn Hoskins of Crothersville. Nell also had a brother, James Thornton and a sister, Janie Stockton who survive as well as 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who survive. Nell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Doug Hoskins, Daughter Dana Hoskins, siblings Woodrow, Lee, Donald, Ray, Joyce, Demie and Ruth and 5 grandchildren. Private services will be held on October 1, 2014 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre at 311 Holiday Square Road in Seymour. Burial will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Underwood.
