Michael Robert Doud

September 7, 1955 — February 22, 2025

Scottsburg

Michael Robert Doud, age 69, of Scottsburg, Indiana, was born on September 7, 1955, in the vibrant town of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed from this life on February 22, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd. A beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, Michael’s larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a  proud graduate of Valparaiso High School in 1973.  He was a Christian by faith and he embraced the role of Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America with the same passion he applied to everything he loved, instilling values of perseverance and camaraderie in the young lives he touched.

Michael was characterized by his loud, boisterous spirit — a reflection of the warmth in his heart. He spoke his mind without hesitation, a trait that endeared him to many and led to countless memorable conversations. Those who knew him will remember his boundless affection, unparalleled enthusiasm, and an unfiltered honesty that made every moment spent with him feel significant.

His joys in life were simple yet profound; he found solace under the hood of a car, lovingly tinkering with engines, and found peace amidst the greenery of his yard, cultivating beautiful spaces with unyielding devotion. His passion for life extended to his family, where laughter echoed warmly in their home.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 21 years, Lori Smith Doud, who stood by him as a steadfast partner through every challenge and triumph. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Janet Schroeder Doud, and his children, Robert "Mac" Doud, Emily Doud, and Emma Doud, who carry forward his legacy of compassion and strength. His siblings, David Doud and his wife Kathy, as well as Cynthia Creech and her husband Mike, hold the shared memories of brotherhood and sisterhood close to their hearts. Additionally, he brought joy to the lives of his two grandchildren, Ryanne Grace and Remington Grace, who were the light in his eyes.

Michael is reunited in spirit with those who have departed before him, including his father, Robert Doud, and brothers Chuck Doud and Thomas Doud. While their absence is profoundly felt, the love they shared endures in an everlasting bond.

The vibrant life of Michael Robert Doud, marked by no shortage of laughter, love, and loyalty, serves as a testament to a man who truly lived. As friends and family gather to reflect on his memory, they will forever celebrate the indomitable spirit of a man whose heart was as big as his voice. May he rest in peace, honored and cherished in the stories left in the hearts of those he loved.

In keeping with his wishes, the family has chosen cremation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
