Marvin Lee Foist

Marvin Lee Foist, age 80 of Seymour, died at 11:15am Monday, March 19, 2012 at his home after a short illness. Born October 16, 1931 in Seymour, Marvin was the son of Ervin and Sophia (Sutherland) Foist. On July 21, 1951 in Seymour, Marvin married Joann Brock, who survives. Employment included Arvin Industries for 25 years, Cummins Engine Company, Indiana Steel before retiring in 1995 from Holmes Industries in Scottsburg after 11 years of service. Marvin enjoyed sitting on his porch, gardening, horses and restoring tractors. Survivors include his wife Joann; daughter Debra (Bill) Acton of Seymour; three sons, Larry (Cinda) Foist, Gary (Judy) Foist and Brian (Melanie) Foist all of Seymour. Eight grandchildren, Stacy Foist, Gloria (Chris) Schrader, Shannon (Sara) Foist, Hollie Hagen, Brandon (Fianc' Candace) Foist, Tyler Foist, Shawn Acton and Melanie (Mark) Koch; 12 great-grandchildren, Dakota and Samuel Schrader, Nicole Thompson, Roy Edwards, Cynthia Edwards, Nikki Edwards, Angelina Corya, Erica Corya, Brenton Foist, Laney Acton, Piper Acton, Nicholas Hagen, Shelby Hagen and Avery Koch; Sister in law, Violet Foist. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert. Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 22nd, 2012 at Seymour First Nazarene with Pastor Steve Greene officiating. Visitation will Wednesday, March 21st from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the church and from 9:00am until service time on Thursday. Burial will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
