Marjorie Ann Gotts

Marjorie “Margie” A. Gotts, 76, of Madison, passed away at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4th at the Hebron Baptist Church (6968 N Graham Rd., Madison, IN) with the Pastor Scott Elston and Brother Jeff Chandler officiating. Family and friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Private burial will take place at the Hebron Baptist Cemetery immediately following the 3 p.m. service. Mrs. Gotts, a 1956 graduate of Elk Rapids High School, was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a homemaker. She began her career at Munson Hospital in Traverse City, MI. Margie was an especially caring and giving person. As such, she later provided private in-home healthcare nursing services as well as performed work in nursing home facilities. She also served as an EMT for Rescue 69 Emergency Medical Services in Versailles. Margie loved the outdoors and raised her children on a small farm in rural Ripley County. Margie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was very talented in gardening, home canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts, cooking, baking and cake decorating. Margie also loved the company of her pets, especially her cat(s). Born, June 28, 1937 in Flint, Michigan, Mrs. Gotts was the daughter of Russell and Buelah Bryan. She married Robert E. Gotts on December 23, 1961 in Elk Rapids, Michigan and they wonderfully celebrated over 50 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband Robert; five children, Linda (Tony) Wood of Madison, Kathryn (Tim) Clayton of Commiskey, Thomas (Sandy) Gotts of Arlington, WA, Susan Sizemore of Madison and David (Melissa) Gotts of North Vernon; sister, Janet Draper of Mount Wolf, PA; ten grandchildren, Dereck Gotts, Joshua (Kacey Farrell) Gotts and Shane Wood all of Madison, Tim (Tina) Clayton, Jr. of Greenwood, Neil (Akiko Seki) Clayton of Ashland, OR, Amber “Rosie” Clayton of Columbus, Alec Gotts and Jordan Gotts both of Arlington, WA, Roger Sizemore of Madison and Michaela “Kayla” Gotts of North Vernon; five great-grandchildren, Jerry, Magnolia, Joshua, Kyle, and John. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gotts was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Walter Bryan and Clayton Bryan and a sister, Mary Jennings.
