Madeline J. Kortman Madeline J. (Kuznicki) Kortman, age 84 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at her residence. Born May 21, 1930 in Rogers City, Michigan, she was the daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Nowicki) Kuznicki, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Marvin H. Kortman whom she married on June 4, 1949 and who passed away December 8, 2009 and one brother Jim Kuznicki. She was a graduated from Rogers City High School in June of 1948. Mrs. Kortman worked at the Boeing Airplane Company while her husband was stationed on the West Coast. She had lived in many places including Seattle, Washington, Lima, Ohio, Muncie, Indiana, San Juan Capistrano, California and Madison, Indiana. Mrs. Kortman worked as a bookkeeper and also owned a miniature golf course in Muncie, Indiana she also was a bookkeeper for Staton Homes in Muncie. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She loved her family very much and enjoyed flowers, working puzzles, scrabble, sewing and angels. Survivors include her two daughters; Debra Haviland and her husband Mike of Greensburg, IN and Paula Kortman and her companion Kerry Simon of Maple Lake, Minnesota; her two sons, Dennis Kortman and his wife Kay of Lexington and Daniel Kortman and his wife Ellen of San Clemente, California; three sisters, Joan, Janice and Donna; nine brothers Dick, Ed, Frances, Mike, Donnie, Jerry, Kenny, Benjamin and Dean; eight grandchildren, Matt Haviland, Tyree Nelson, Amber Bergdoll, Tarah Limerick, Nathan Limerick, Jordan Kortman, Lexi Kortman and Morgan Kortman; four great-grandchildren, Noah Nelson, Gabbie Haviland, Madeline Haviland and Lucinda Bergdoll and several nieces and nephews. A private family visitation will be Friday October 31, 2014 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Woodlawn family Funeral Centre-Vail Chapel. Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father Chris Craig at 1:00 PM Friday October 31, 2014 at the St. Patrick’s Chapel, 305 West State Street, with interment in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Contribution cards will be available at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre-Vail Chapel and at the church.
