Lyman E. “Tony” Prewitt, age 83 of Seymour, passed away at 4:30am on Sunday, May 15th at Schneck Medical Center. Born January 15, 1933 in Tampico, he was the son of James Guy and Mary Elizabeth (Auffenberg) Prewitt. On December 13, 1968 in Brownstown, Tony married Micki Taskey.
Tony served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He then began a career at Cummings Engine Company retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89, VFW Post 1925, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 and Loyal Order of Moose 418. Tony enjoyed playing pool, cards, hanging out with the guys. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and running trout lines on the river. Tony also had a great love for his many dogs.
Survivors include his wife Micki; son Todd (Stephanie Ulrey) of Seymour; sister, Jeanette “Jean” Shelton of Brownstown; sister in law, Vickie Burrell. Tony also has several nieces and nephews who survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Marion “Prewitt”, Osborne “Bob”, Chester “Check”, James, “Toots”, Mary, Jack and Jakie Guy “Jake”. Tony also had three siblings that died at birth.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Cremation will take place after visitation and interment will follow at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at the funeral home to the Jackson County Dog Shelter, Hospice of Schneck Medical Center, and American Heart Association or to the American Stroke Association.
