Lilia Gaspar De Juan, age 55, a beautiful spirit who intertwined her humor and warmth with the vibrancy of life, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family in her home in Seymour, Indiana. Born on March 26, 1969, in the enchanting San Sebastian Coatan, Guatemala, Lilia carried the essence of her beloved homeland in her heart, an echo of the jungle she explored, the rivers she adored, and the flowers she nurtured.

To know Lilia was to embrace joy. She welcomed laughter like an old friend and illuminated every room with her infectious spirit. A woman of many talents, Lilia was celebrated for her artistry; her hands wrought beauty in the form of knitting exquisite bags and embroidering with meticulous detail. Her organized approach to these crafts echoed her commitment to family and home, always encouraging her daughters to maintain their surroundings with grace, playfully threatening that she would come to "pull their feet" if they did not.

At the core of her existence was an unwavering love for her family. Lilia was a cherished wife to Felipe Juan Francisco, a nurturing mother to her daughters, Yolanda Juan Gaspar and Apolonia Juan Gaspar, and a beloved daughter to her parents, Juan Gaspar Baltazar and Josefa Sebastian. Her laughter was a guiding light to her brothers—Sebastian Juan Juan, Baltazar Juan Gaspar Sebastian, Diego Juan Gaspar—and her sister, Ana Juan Baltazar. She also held deep connections with her other sisters: Candelaria Gaspar Sebastian and Josefa Gaspar Sebastian. The memories shared with her lifelong friend, Juana Miguel Juan, were treasured like the most precious jewels, imbued with sisterly love that transcended time and distance.

A devoted member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Lilia's faith was a cornerstone of her identity, and the community felt her compassionate presence. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, often recalling adventures in the lush landscapes of Guatemala. Her childhood escapades featured tree climbing and raising chickens, each moment contributed to a tapestry that she wove together with love and laughter.

Lilia's journey through life was not without pain; she embraced the joy and sorrow as integral parts of her human experience. Among those awaiting her in eternal rest are her beloved mother Josefa Sebastian, her siblings, Gaspar Juan Gaspar and Catarina Juan, who bring warmth to the memories of her vibrant spirit.

A visitation will be held on October 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, followed by a heartfelt Mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. This gathering will be a testament to the abundance of love that she cultivated throughout her life, where those who loved her can share their stories and celebrate the legacy she leaves behind.
