Kenneth 'Kenney' Carey, Sr.

October 14, 1950 — January 10, 2022

Kenneth 'Kenney' Carey, age 71, a native of Scottsburg, Indiana and a resident of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 14, 1950 to the late Roy Carey and the late Mary (Hatten) Carey. Kenney will forever be remembered as a stubborn, ornery man that loved people. If you knew him, you loved him. He was a wonderful provider for his family serving as a licensed electrician for over 40 years. He was a member of the Scottsburg VFW and the American Legion. He loved NASCAR, tractors and collecting knives and guns. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising horses. He loved fishing and going on vacation where he would always seek out roller coasters to ride on. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Phyllis (Warren) Carey of Lexington, Indiana, four sons, Troy Carey and his wife Kim of Wabash, Indiana, Eddie Warren and his wife Leslie of Palmyra, Indiana, Robert Bolden and his wife Tonya of Tennessee and John Warren and his wife Melissa of Indianapolis, Indiana. Two daughters, Teresa Aloisio and her husband Marc of Scottsburg, Indiana and April Lanham and her fiance Jeremy Williams of Borden, Indiana.  One brother, Roger Carey and his wife Gladys of Lexington, Indiana and one sister, Brenda Clegg and her husband Marty of Nabb, Indiana. Sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Carey.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Scaffold Lick Cemetery.
