Kenneth E. Warner, age 80 of Seymour, passed away at Hoosier Christian Village on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. He was born to Earl “Bud” Warner and Alberta (Elkins) Warner on the 25th of December in the year of 1936 at Columbus, Indiana. His education was at East Columbus, Ogilville Elementary and Columbus High School. He joined the U.S. Marines and was a Sergeant from 1953-1957 and served in the Korean War. He took great pride in the fact that his son Nick also served as a Marine and his son-in-law, Jack, served in the Navy and his grandson, Steven, is currently serving in the Army.
On July 4, 1957 in Freetown, he married Janice Dean Selby, daughter of Oretha and Herbert Selby, whom he loved like his own parents. He worked for Meshberger Stone Company in 1958 which would eventually become Milestone Ltd, where he retired from after 42 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 89. In his spare time, he loved to whittle and paint, giving his family many of the things he crafted. He also loved going to antique tractor shows with his brother Joe. Above all things, his world revolved around his family. He dearly loved his wife, having his own special nicknames for her and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren mean the world to him.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Janice Dean; children, Nick Warner, Wendy and Jack Schryer, Christina and Charles Elmore and Kendale and Maribeth Warner; grandchildren, Kenny Warner, Janice and Jeremiah Cox, Nick II and Emily Warner, Mari and Kelly Hood, Jackie Schryer, Chris and Leah Schryer, Steven and Rona Warner, Nathan Warner and Bethany Warner; great-grandchildren, Jayson, Jaela and Juliana Cox, Angel, Cordia Asencio, Nicholas III, and Theodora Warner, Lilly Hood, William and Madeline Schryer, Avery, Alissa, Kaleb and Stephanie Warner, Jocelyn Perez, Shaylee, Kory and Logan Warner, and Dylan Collins, Bella, Matthew and Nikolai Wingler; known to his siblings as “Jerry”, Joe and Shirley Warner, Raye and Danny James, Dick and Libby Warner, Earl and Kathy Warner, Wanda Clausson, Dean “Pete” and Betty Warner and Faye Chamberlain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; also two infant brothers, John Henry and Larry William and two infant sisters, Doris Ann and Carol Sue.
Pastor Jerry Van Kuiken will conduct funeral services at 10:00am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at the funeral home and on Monday from 9:00am until service time. Burial will follow services at Spraytown Cemetery.
