Kalee Rachael (Hurt) Shaw, a native of Seymour, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana formerly of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her residence surrounded by those that she loved dearly. She was born on September 28, 1998 to the late William Hurt and Shawna Richey of Nashville, Indiana. Kalee will forever be remembered as an outgoing, fun, compassionate, feisty, young lady that loved life and lived it the best she could. She was loyal to a fault, and one never had to wonder if she had their back. She was a tender hearted kid that if she loved you, she would do anything for you. She believed in keeping your word, that your word was your bond and she kept her word at all cost. Kalee was real, selfless and loved all children and animals. During her hard fought battle with illness, Kalee found a relationship with Jesus Christ and found his love for her. It was during this time that the song, "Way Maker" became very special to her. She would listen it it when she was down and when she was the sickest and even as she passed away, she knew, as the song says, "way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, even when I don't see it your working". She knew that God was preparing a special place of peace and rest for her. She fought bravely and ran to Jesus as she left this world. If she could speak today she would tell her family and friends to find the same love for Jesus that she did, and everything will be ok.
She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She is survived by her greatest treasures in life, her husband, Tony Shaw and their two daughters, Kashlee Miracle Riley Shaw and Kazlee Aaliyah Katelynn Shaw. She is also survived by her mother, Shawna Richie and her wife Audra of Nashville, Indiana, three step-sons, Braedon Shaw, Maeson Shaw and Zander Shaw. One brother, Jacob Allen of Scottsburg, Indiana and three step-brothers, Jordon Popplewell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Chandler Popplewell of Nashville, Indiana and Korbyn Popplewell of Nashville, Indiana. One step-sister, Kii-Kii Popplewell of Nashville, Indiana. Maternal grandparents, Willie and Rita Hurt of Scottsburg, Indiana. She is also survived by the Jody and Melissa Fink family who loved her and cared for her as their very own.
