Judith Ann (Allman) Norris

September 21, 1938 — October 23, 2024

Seymour

Judith Ann (Allman) Norris, age 86, a cherished soul and devoted matriarch, passed away on October 23, 2024 at the Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana. Born in the town of Seymour on September 21, 1938, she was a beacon of affection and strength, illuminating the lives of all who had the privilege to know.

Raised in the loving environment crafted by her parents, Roy and Frieda (Wright) Allman, Judith blossomed into an honest and hardworking individual whose dedication to her family defined her essence. She graduated from Shields High School in 1956, a milestone that was but a stepping stone towards a life rich with love and service.

Her professional journey was as admirable as it was varied. Judith dedicated over 35 years to crafting her career as an accountant for Cummins before taking on the rewarding role of a mail carrier for more than a decade. In both capacities, she formed genuine connections, always approaching her work with the same vigor and ethical fortitude that characterized her personality.

A  member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church, Judith found solace and community in her faith, which served as a foundation for her life’s values. Those who crossed paths with her often recall her spunky spirit and generous heart—a true spitfire who would deliver honesty, even when it stirried the waters of comfort. Her fierce devotion to family was unwavering, and her children often remarked upon her loyalty, saying that she was their eternal champion, ready to lend her time and affection without reservation.

Judith’s greatest joy was found in her family—an expansive network of love that encompassed her son Robert E. Norris, her daughter Beth Bryant and her husband Lloyd, and her brother Tom Allman and his wife Karen and sister-in-law Gloria Allman. Her legacy continues to thrive through her five grandchildren—Katie Covert, Donald "DJ" Snyder, Alicia Simpson, Max Bryant, and Donnie Bryant, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brooke, Izaiah, Grace, Chloe, Lance, Bailee and Colby, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Judith’s innate ability to care for others shone brightly, especially during cherished family vacations where her laughter filled the air. The simple pleasures of walking outdoors and engaging in jigsaw and crossword puzzles brought her immense happiness, moments she treasured deeply. She made the best persimmon pudding, ham salad, potato soup and blackberry cobbler.

Judith's life was forever intertwined with the cherished memories of her departed loved ones: her father Roy Allman, her mother Frieda, and her brothers Lawrence and Russell Cotton Allman.

A visitation to honor Judith’s life will take place on October 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, at the Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana. She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery immediately following.
