Judith G. Allen, age 72 of Freetown, passed away on Saturday, November 29th at her home. Born November 2, 1942 in Glendale, W.V., she was the daughter of Roy H. and Margaret (Maze) Craig. Judy graduated in 1960 from Oil City High School in Oil City, PA. She then went to Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, graduating in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in science and home economics. During the last 7 years Judy worked as the director of food services at six Extendicare nursing homes in Southern Indiana. Prior to that she served in the same capacity for the Meadowood Retirement Community in Bloomington. She was a member of the American Dietetic Association and a member of the Brownstown Presbyterian Church. Judy enjoyed gardening, collecting cookbooks, gourmet cooking, shopping, and making greeting cards. In 2002, Judy was reunited with her high school sweetheart, David Allen, and they were married a year later on October 9, 2003 in Mesa, AZ. Survivors include her husband, Dave; daughter Cher (Steve) Bevers from Freetown; sister Jane (David) Fletcher of Freetown and grandchildren, Joshua Nichols, Amber and Payge Sizemore. Judy is also survived by her loved and loyal canine companions, Jac & Max. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Craig Nichols, who passed at the age of 12. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00am at the Brownstown Presbyterian Church. Memorials can be made to the Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or Brownstown Presbyterian Church through the funeral home. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre has been entrusted with the arrangements.
