Joshua Todd Shafer

Joshua Todd “Josh” Shafer, age 22 of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, August 30th at his residence. Born in Seymour on November 23, 1992, he was the son of Cindy (Sears) Shafer and Matt Shafer. Josh graduated from Seymour High School and had worked at Valeo Sylvania. He loved skateboarding and spent many hours at the skate park at Shields Park. Josh also enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a guy who always wanted to make others laugh. Survivors include his mother, Cindy (Tony Washington) Shafer of Seymour; dad, Matt (Miranda Leeson) Shafer of Columbus; brothers, Jordan Shafer and Jacob Shafer of Seymour; sister, Heather Shafer of Columbus; niece, Karcynn Shafer; grandparents, Sue Piercefield of Medora and Art and Susie Hurt of Ogilville; Aunt Catherine (Tim) Horton of Seymour, Aunt Stacy (Randy) Carmichael of Elletsville, Uncle Gary Shafer of Columbus and Uncle Billy Sears of Florida; cousins, Lucy and Brady Horton; Josh was preceded in death by his grandpas, Gerry Sears and Kenny Shafer. Pastor Rick Wilson will conduct a funeral service at 11:00am on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and then Friday from 9:00am until service time. Burial will follow services at Friends Cemetery in Seymour.
