Joseph L. Jacobs Joseph L. Jacobs, age 69 of Madison, passed away on Friday April 17, 2015 at the Robley Rex VAMC is Louisville, Kentucky. Born January 21, 1946 in Switzerland County, he was the son of Estil L. Jacobs and Hattie (Elsworth) Gross. Joseph was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Jacobs graduated from Welding School in Chicago where he later used his skills for Jacobs Welding, Miller Pipe Line and Bennett’s Marine. Joseph served his country in the Army for the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 9, The Moose Lodge Family Center #765, the VFW Post # 1969 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising his hunting dogs and playing pool, he was considered to be a pool shark. He was preceded in death by his father; his companion, Mary E. Merrill; two sisters, Jeanie Ramsey and Brenda Terrell; two brothers, Douglas and Merritt A. Jacobs and his nephew Brian Stites. SURVIVORS He is survived by his mother of Madison; three sisters Kay Haseker of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Frances Baxter of Florida and Kathy Brierly of Madison, his three nieces Missy Keely of Indianapolis, Charley Foley and Jackie Kramer both of Madison. GRAVESIDE SERVICES Pastor Frank McGee will conduct graveside services at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 22, 2015 at Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. Full Military Honors will be conducted by The American Legion Post # 9 Honor Guard at the Moffett Cemetery. EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY Memorial contributions can be made to the Brian W. Stites Scholarship Fund/Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County PO BOX 306 Madison, Indiana 47250. Contribution cards will be available at the Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre.
