Josefina Escamilla viuda de Navarro, 76 years old of Columbus, Indiana passed away August 12, 2020 at her residence. Born June 22, 1944 in Santa Marta Victoria, Cabañas, El Salvador she was the daughter of Dolores Antonio Escamilla and Maria de Los Angeles Rivas.
Josefina was a member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, Indiana. She loved travelling, especially to her beloved El Salvador. She loved taking care of her family and cooking. She was known for her delicious sopa de carne, pasteles and tamales de elotes. She also enjoyed Coca Cola, Starbucks and IHOP. Josefina will be remembered as having a great sense of humor, kindhearted, observant, with excellent memory skills and very spiritual. She led her family in a strong yet humble manner.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria Navarro, Anna Navarro both of New York, New York, Reyna “Karen” Navarro and Mathias and Liz Navarro both of Columbus, Indiana; her sons, Pedro Navarro and Hsahser of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rene Navarro of New York, New York, James Navarro of Long Island, New York and Roberto Navarro of Seymour, Indiana; her sisters, Rosa Escamilla and Celia Escamilla both of El Salvador; her brother, Juan Jose Escamilla and his wife Barbara of El Salvador; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Father Chris Wadelton will conduct funeral mass at 12:00pm on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm. Friends and family members who are attending will be required to wear facial covering while in the church.
Burial will take place at a later date at Cementario General De Sensuntepeque in Sensutepeque, Cabañas, El Salvador. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre have been entrusted with all arrangements. Friends and family members can leave online condolences at www.woodlawnfamilyfuneral.com Services will be livestreamed on Woodlawn’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend.
