John Silakowski

July 7, 1949 — August 27, 2022

John Robert Silakowski, age 73, a native of Jersey City, NJ and a resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at his residence. He was born on July 7, 1949 to the late Joe Silakowski and the late Wilma (Kemp) MIller.
John was a Christian by faith. He will forever be remembered as a "people person", never meeting a stranger and was always outgoing. He was a master carpenter and had tremendous talent. He was a fiddle maker and was well know through Nashville, Tennessee for his "Silakowski Five String" fiddle. He was a very humble and generous man and when he was told that a student didn't have a fiddle, he would give them one of his. Of all the things he loved in this life, nothing compared to the love he had for his family and spoiling his dog "Bandit".
He is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Linda (Davis) Silakowski of Scottsburg, Indiana, one son, John B. Silakowski of Scottsburg, Indiana and one daughter, Cristy Spence and her husband Jeff of Scottsburg, Indiana. Two grandchildren, Jacob Spence and his fiance Kennedy Baxter and Trace Seaver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Silakowski and Eddie Silakowski.
Private family visitation will be held followed by a Graveside service at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Cravens Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Quiles officiating.
