John Richard Terrell, 82, of Salem IN and formerly of Scottsburg IN, passed away Sunday, October 22 2023 at his residence in Salem IN. John was born February 19 1941, in Scottsburg IN, to the late Raymond Terrell and Wilma Richey Terrell. John was a former co-founder of D & M Machine & Tool in Scottsburg for 20 + years and formerly plant manager and product manager of Mazer Corporation. He previously served in the National Guard. John was a Christian by faith, a simple man with “old school set in his ways” belief, handled cattle and hogs and livestock, intelligent, loved math, and most importantly loved his family. He is survived by his son Richard Terrell of Salem; his daughter Judy Miller of Salem; his brother Gene Terrell and wife Marilyn of North Vernon IN; his sisters Shirley Terrell of Seymour IN, Wanda Robbins & husband Jeff of Indianapolis IN, Sheila Gibson & husband Jim of Florida, Cheryl Sparks & husband Mike of Indianapolis, Paula Harmon & husband Darren of Madison; grandchildren Brooklyn Miller & Braden Miller. He was also preceded in death by a brother Jim Terrell, a sister Dorothy Sebastian & a granddaughter Isabelle Reynolds.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 27 2023 2pm at Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home, 80 N 1st St, Scottsburg IN 47170 with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating. Friends and family may visit 10am until time of 2pm service on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Bethany Cemetery/Bethany Baptist Church, Deputy IN. Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Cemetery through the funeral home.
