Jerry L. Scott

Jerry Lester Scott, born on October 30, 1951, in Seymour, Indiana, embarked on his final journey on March 28, 2025, at Hoosier Health and Living in Brownstown. Jerry lived a life rich in laughter, kinship, and an unyielding spirit of generosity. The echoes of his kind-hearted nature will eternally be in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A proud graduate of Brownstown High School in 1972, Jerry spent over 15 admirable years sharpening his skills and earning the respect of colleagues at Cummins. Yet, it was his zest for life outside of work that truly defined him. With a spirit that thrived in the great outdoors, he found immense joy wandering the woods and soaking in the serene beauty of nature. His passion extended beyond the trees; he was a devoted fan of Western and Sci-fi movies, immersing himself in stories that spanned the universe.

Jerry was a man whose personality shimmered with charm and warmth. He possessed an infectious sense of humor that could light up the dullest day, often punctuated with his signature phrase, "Oh hell yes!" — a phrase that warmed both hearts and spirits, often directed at the lovely nurses and staff who took care of him with unwavering affection. His flirtatious banter endeared him to many, reminding everyone that joy can always be found, even in the simplest interactions. Full of life when possible, he relished the company of friends and family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Michael J. Scott and his fiancé Amanda Young of Anderson, Indiana, and Jared Scott and his wife Whitney of Crothersville, Indiana. His siblings Jim Scott of Freetown, Indiana, Jan Scott of Seymour, Indiana, and Jill Swider of Freetown, Indiana, hold memories of laughter and love with him. Jerry leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Kennady, Dylan, Wade, Hali, Joshalyn, Corban, and Faith, the legacies of his life and lessons etched in their hearts.

Though he has departed from this life, he joins those who left before him, including his late father Jackie Scott, his mother Mary Sue Stillwell Hedrick, and his brother John Scott. Together, they await him in a peaceful embrace, an eternal family reunion that transcends time.

He will be honored with visitation on April 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both held at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winklepleck Chapel in Brownstown, Indiana. With burial to follow at Smallwood Cemetery. In these moments of remembrance, we gather, united in our love for him, carrying forward his legacy of kindness, laughter, and a boundless love for life.
