Janet Sue (Burden) Davis, age 63, a native of Seymour, Indiana and a resident of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was born on March 5, 1961, Albert and Shirley Hochstetler of Seymour, Indiana. For over fifteen years, she had been a teacher at Liberty Christian Academy in Seymour. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Crothersville, Indiana and the founder of Leaving the 99 Ministry where she partners with her husband to go after “the one” to further God’s Kingdom. She had a firm faith to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you”. She enjoyed lighthouses and tried everyday to let her light shine to draw others to Jesus. Her face said “I love you” and she would do whatever she could to, as Jesus taught, “Do unto the least of these, you have done it unto me”.
Janet was passionate, selfless, forgiving, and loving to everyone she met. Everyone knew her as “Mama” and she was known for always asking, “Can God bless that?”
She is survived by her husband, Jason Davis of North Vernon; her daughters: Courtney Spurgeon and her husband Robby of Hayden, Indiana, Kelsey Deaton and her fiancé, Ted Harris of Hayden, Indiana, Bailey Davis and her boyfriend, Ethan Hackman of Medora, Indiana, Alia Davis of Hayden, and Serenity Hanson of Hayden; her parents: Albert and Shirley Hochstetler of Seymour; her grandchildren: Brooklynde Stagnolia, Lillian Deaton, Julian Deaton, Isaiah Harris, and Jase Harris.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerome Deaton and her brother, Charles Randy Burden.
