James W. Owens, age 49, husband of Shannon Owens, passed suddenly on December 9, 2018 at IU Health West. Born April 17, 1969 in Boise, Idaho, he was the youngest son of Don and Nadeen Owens. James was married for time and eternity to Shannon L. Smith on April 14, 2012 in Crestwood, Kentucky.
James graduated from Borah High School in Boise, Idaho in 1987 before receiving his mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to serve in the Texas Fort Worth Mission in the spring of 1988. After returning, James enlisted in the United States Marines and served from September 1990 to July 1997 before being honorably discharged. James worked for a number of companies throughout his life and was always remembered as a dedicated and hard worker. He was a supportive son and husband and made sure that his family was always taken care of.
James was survived by his loving wife, Shannon L. Owens; his father Don Owens; his sister Donnette Owens and brothers Glenn (wife Conndra) Owens, Matt Owens and Bart Owens; his chosen children Emberli Stewart, Ashli (fiance Calvin Young) Stewart, Alexander (wife Rhe’Anna) Stewart and Iven Stewart; his grandchildren Hope Lorenzi and Nicholas McGuire. James also had a whole host of extended family that he was wonderful at keeping in contact with.
James was preceded in death by his dear mother, Venice “Nadeen” Owens, just eleven days before his own sudden passing.
Memorial services will be held at the Noblesville Ward Chapel and will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday December 20, 2018 and are open to all. The church building is located at 777 Sunblest Blvd. Fishers, IN 46038. There will be a gathering following the services in the church’s cultural hall with light refreshments. Anyone who would like to bring a dish or memory to share is welcome to do so.
