James Hilton McDonald, a loving son, devoted uncle, and loyal friend, passed away on February 16, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on May 21, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky. A man whose laughter was contagious and whose kindness knew no bounds, James touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

James was a Christian by faith and led a life filled with joy and love. He had an enduring passion for 1980's classic heavy metal and could always be counted on to share his extensive knowledge about guitars and martial arts movies. His love for military history showcased his fascination with the past, while his adoration for beagles and hound dogs illustrated his deep affection for all creatures great and small. With a collection of swords that spoke to his adventurous spirit, James found amusement in the antics of Benny Hill and the timeless humor of the Three Stooges, often enjoying those moments over a cold Diet Mt Dew or a refreshing Big Red.

He leaves behind a loving mother, Susan (Jones) Leatherbury, who cherished every moment spent with her son. His siblings, Clarence Leatherbury of Salem, Indiana, Tiffany Heimer and her husband Karl of Pasadena, Maryland, Suzanne Burkhead and her husband Jim of Kentucky, and Whitney Hill of Clarksville, Indiana, will carry his memory in their hearts and share stories of his joyful spirit. James adored his nieces and nephews, including Addyson Downs, Wolfgang Heimer, Brennan Hill, Mallory Hill, Leopold Heimer, Sutherlyn Burkhead, and Brooks Burkhead, imparting warmth and love that will resonate within them forever.

James was preceded in death by his father, John McDonald, and his nephew, Blake Hill. Their absence is felt deeply, but the memories shared and the love they fostered continue to comfort those he left behind.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of James Hilton McDonald, let us remember him as a beacon of happiness and kindness, a cherished soul whose vibrant presence made an indelible mark in our lives. He will always be remembered for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and the way he brought people together in love and light.
