James Lewis Sylvester, age 86, a native of Bloomington, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed from this life to Glory on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1935 to the late Homer Sylvester and the late Ruth (Duncan) Sylvester.
James was a faithful member of Trinity Pentecostal Church and served his Country proudly in the United States Army. He was a very private man that loved to laugh and tell a good joke. If he cut up with you and teased you, it meant he liked you and always gave the best hugs. James loved fishing, antiques, flea markets and Auctions. Above all that he loved in this life nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Florene (Hurd) Sylvester of Seymour, Indiana. One son, James A. Sylvester of Livingston, Texas and two daughters, Victoria L. Jones and her husband Matthew of Livingston, Texas and Patsy Peterman and her husband James of Houston, Texas. Three grandchildren, Cory Osad, Amanda Osad and Kelsey Osad. Six great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and one grandson, James Osad.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. Keith Thompson and Pastor Ryan Bradley officiating. He will be laid to rest until that great rapture morning at Cana Cemetery.
