James Eugene Williams

James Eugene Williams, age 87, a native and resident of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on May 23, 2024, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. He was born on June 15, 1936, to the late Elgin Williams and the late Mary Alice (Bush) Hayes. He was Pentecostal by faith. James had a passion for horses, loving to break and ride them. There was no horse he couldn’t break. He also enjoyed camping, swimming, and going to Starve-Hollow with family. He was a caring, quiet man who loved his family deeply.

He is survived by one son: Charlie (Penny) Williams of Scottsburg, Indiana; one brother: Lowell William Sr. of North Carolina; three grandchildren: Loretta, Destinie, and Destany; seven great grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Rowland) Williams; one brother: George Williams; three sisters: Irene Hunter, Aliene Hunter, and Carolyn Sue Deaton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31st from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Christensen-Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating. James will be laid to rest at the Scottsburg Cemetery.
