Isabel Hernández Varona, de 96 años, oriunda de Ciego de Ávila, Cuba y residente de Louisville, KY, falleció el jueves 20 de junio del 2024 en su residencia rodeada de su amada familia. Nació el 8 de agosto de 1927 a José Hernández y Lucila Varona. Era de fe católica. Isabel siempre será recordada como una mujer amable, cariñosa y entregada que amaba profundamente y, aunque no tenía mucho, daba todo lo que podía para ayudar a los demás. Tenía un corazón genuino de servir a los demás y amaba a su familia. Después de llegar a los Estados Unidos en el 2001, trabajó arduamente para enviar dinero a Cuba para ayudar a su familia. Será tristemente extrañada por todos los que la conocieron y amaron y por cada vida que tocó de una manera especial.
Le sobrevive su esposo de 68 años, Andrés Álvarez Pérez de Louisville, KY. Tres hijos, Rigoberto Prado Hernández y su esposa Sabey, de Louisville, KY, Leonel Álvarez Hernández y su esposa Mayra, de Florida, y Andrés Álvarez Hernández, de Louisville, KY. Tres hijas, Ohilda Prado Hernández de Louisville, KY, Leonides Prado Hernández de Louisville, KY y Miladis Álvarez Hernández de Louisville, KY. Un hermano y dos hermanas. 14 nietos, numerosos bisnietos y 1 tataranieto.
La familia estará recibiendo a sus amigos el domingo 23 de junio del 2024 en la funeraria Pearson en Louisville, KY, de 12:30 p.m. a 1:30 p.m. La misa de cuerpo presente comenzará a las 2:00 p.m. en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Louisville, KY. El sepelio se llevará a cabo el lunes 24 de junio del 2024 a las 11:00 a.m. en el Cementerio Floydsburg en Crestwood, KY.

Isabel Hernandez Varona, age 96, a native of Ciego de Avila, Cuba and a resident of Louisville, Ky, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1927 to the late Jose Hernandez and the late Lucila Varona. She was a Catholic by faith. Isabel will forever be remembered as a kind, caring, loving lady that loved deeply and though she did not have much, gave whatever she could to help others. She had a genuine servant’s heart and loved her family. After coming to the United States in 2001, she worked hard and sent money back to Cuba to help her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Andres Alvarez Perez of Louisville, Kentucky. Three sons, Rigoberto Prado Hernandez and his wife Sabey of Louisville, Kentucky, Leonel Alvarez Hernandez and his wife Mayra of Florida and Andres Alvarez Hernandez of Louisville, Kentucky. Three daughters, Ohilda Prado Hernandez of Louisville, Kentucky, Leonides Prado Hernandez of Louisville, Kentucky and Miladis Alvarez Hernandez of Louisville, Kentucky. One brother and two sisters. 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Pearson Funeral Home on Louisville, Kentucky from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. A mass of Christian burial will begin at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. Burial will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, Kentucky.
