Hester Ann Engleking

Hester Ann Engleking, age 82 of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at The Crossing in Seymour. Born July 13, 1936 in Franklin, Indiana, she was the daughter of William Jarvis and Nettie (Gideon) Wininger. On October 31, 1954, Hester married Robert Eugene Engleking who passed in 1970.

She attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Full Gospel Apostolic Tabernacle. She enjoyed playing Farkle with friends at the apartment, crocheting, working crossword puzzles and watching soap operas. Hester loved having company over, especially her family, grandchildren and friends from the apartments.

Survivors include her daughters, Roberta (Tim) Smith and Diana (Walter, Sr.) Barger both of Seymour and Jalie (Gordon) Babbs of Kentucky; son, Arthur Eugene Engleking of Freetown; 8 grandchildren, Raymond (Kelly), Ricky, Jayla (James), Branden (Angie), Tonya (Seth), Rachel (Joe), Ashley, Amy; 13 great-grandchildren, Kanisha, Nora, Lola, McKayla, Kaylee, Regan, James, Jalyn, Sophia, Alexis, Braden, Bentley and Whitney; brother, John Jarvis of Bedford; sisters, Opal Burton of Edinburgh and Jesse (Jack) Adamson of Newburgh.

Hester was preceded in death by her husband; parents; children, Helen Engleking, Roann Engleking, Thelma Engleking and Zelma Engleking; and sisters, Grace Jarvis, Ruth Tuder and Elsie Cowan; brother, Charlie Jarvis.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials can be made at the funeral home in Hester’s memory to the Hester Engleking Memorial Fund.
