Harold K. Duke

Harold K. Duke, age 93 of Hanover, passed away at 11:50pm Sunday, June 22nd at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born May 6, 1921 in Hanover, he was the son of Clarence and Florence (Santschi) Duke. On March 3, 1943, he married Rosetta Jane Brooks. Harold was retired from Philco Ford after 27 years of service in the service department. He was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He attended American Radio and Television School in School in Chicago for 2 years. Harold served as a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II. For a number of years, Harold was caretaker for the Hanover Presbyterian Cemetery. He most enjoyed spending time with grandkids and telling stories. Survivors include his wife of 71 years Rosetta; son Larry K. Duke and wife Linda of Hanover; sisters, Doris Humphreys and Edna Sargent both of Madison; two granddaughters, Emily Boley and her husband Nathan and Noelle Stockdale and her husband Matt; two great grandsons, twins Adam and Blake Boley. Harold also had several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Robert Duke. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, June 25th at 11:00am at Springdale Cemetery with graveside military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial expressions can be made to either the Hanover Cemetery or the Hanover Presbyterian Church care of the funeral home. Woodlawn-Vail Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
