Goldie M. Brown

Goldie M. Brown, age 91 of Seymour, passed away at 7:55pm Monday, October 6, 2014 at Schneck Medical Center. Born October 30, 1922 in Whiteland, Indiana, she was the daughter of James and Minnie (Reeves) Smith. On January 13, 1940, she married Berton Marshall Brown. Living in Jackson County since 1960, Goldie he was retired from working in the health care field as a CNA. During World War II, she lived in Seattle, WA and worked at the Boeing Aircraft Company. Goldie attended the Freetown Pentecostal Church. Goldie loved to garden, sew and canning. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her grandkids. Survivors include a son, Gerald D. Brown; daughters, Walena (Ray Holman) Royalty and Barbara Brown Mellencamp; granddaughter, Melissa (Jack) Wilkinson; grandson Aaron (Mona) Royalty; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brent) Craig, McKinley Royalty, Mason Royalty, Saraya Royalty and Aryck Royalty; great-great-grandson, Briden Craig. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Berton; son, Charles Burton Brown; brothers, Ted Smith, Alvin Smith, Harry Smith, Chester Smith, Richard Smith, Silas Smith, Melvin Smith, Harley Smith and Verley Smith; sister, Emma Mae Baute. Brother Tim Brown will conduct services at 11:00am on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre at 311 Holiday Sq. Rd. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville, Indiana. Memorials can be made to the Freetown Pentecostal Church.
