Glaze Lynn Gibson

Glaze Lynn Gibson, age 70, a cherished educator and devoted family man, was born on October 22, 1954, in Angola, Indiana. He departed this world on December 20, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. For over 38 years, Glaze dedicated his life to the Seymour School System, passionately instilling knowledge and encouragement into the hearts of his students. His belief in their potential shaped countless lives, as he poured himself into every lesson with unwavering commitment and a generous spirit.

Beyond the classroom, Glaze's heart beat strongest for his family, where his love flourished abundantly, especially for his six grandchildren: Henry, Isaac, Norah, Lily, Emilia, and Oakley. "Keep the party going," and "Don't be sad that I am gone, be happy that I was here", he would say, advocating for joy amidst the sorrow of his departure. Glaze's genuine warmth and humble nature made him a radiant presence who reminded those around him to celebrate the moments shared rather than mourn his absence.

A proud 1973 graduate of Hamilton High School, Glaze continued his education at Indiana University, earning a Master’s degree in education that would empower him to change lives through teaching. His faith as a Christian was a guiding light throughout his life, reflecting in the love and kindness he offered those around him.

Glaze was not merely an educator; he was a beacon of encouragement, genuinely invested in the happiness of others. He came from humble beginnings, aspiring to provide for his family the luxuries he never had. With an unselfish heart, he took delight in running and immersing himself in nature, whether through the thrill of attending the INDY 500 for over 35 years with his children or hiking the breathtaking trails of Utah and Arizona. Beaches called to him, where he found peace walking upon the sand, relishing God's magnificent creation.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 39 years, Mary Beth Fleck Gibson of Seymour, Indiana, who stood by his side through all of life’s challenges. To carry on his legacy of love and inspiration are his children: Andrew Gibson and his wife Nadine of Ocala, Florida; Adrianne Hernandez and her husband Elvis of Seymour, Indiana; and Amy Barron and her husband Luis of Clarksville, Indiana. Glaze's bond with his siblings remained strong—Steve Gibson and his wife Tana of Hamilton, Indiana; sister Mona Beatty of Auburn, Indiana; and sister Glenda Palmer and her husband Don of Cicero, Indiana.

He is predeceased by his father, Glenn Gibson; his mother, Graple Bartholomew Gibson; and brothers Jim and Robert Gibson. While this world has lost a brilliant light with Glaze’s passing, his love will resonate within the hearts of those fortunate enough to call him family and friend.

Friends and family are warmly invited to visitation services held at the Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana, on December 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on December 27, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM through noon with Father Dan Staublin and Dr. Jeremy Myers officiating.

Glaze Lynn Gibson leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and the enduring spirit of joy that will surely inspire all who knew him.
