Gilbert A. Schoenfelder Sr.

Gilbert A. "Gib" Schoenfelder, Sr., 79, of Seymour, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Crossing of Seymour. Mr. Schoenfelder was born March 23, 1933 in Seymour to Karl and Frieda (Klosterman) Schoenfelder. In 1971, Gilbert married Treva Jane Gross, who preceded him in death on January 9, 2011. Gib was an avid fisherman and loved to mushroom hunt. Survivors include his children, Kathy Ross of Seymour, Karen (Billy) Marcott of Brownstown and Pat (Gina) Schoenfelder of Seymour; his step-children, Stuart (Maria) Callaway of Seymour, Melinda Bullock and Darrell Callaway of Memphis, Indiana; two brothers, Harold (Linda) Schoenfelder of Seymour and John Schoenfelder of Columbus; three sisters, Marie Wischmeier and Alice (Richard) Ridlen of Seymour, Carolyn (John) Peterson of Columbus. Gilbert is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Richard (Rachel) Skaggs, Rachel Benitez, Robert (Shannon) Skaggs, Jason (Julie) Skaggs, Clayton (Tara) Ross, Ruby (Toby) Atha, Pam (John) Kindel and David Thomas McDonald, Jr., Karlie and Jordan Schoenfelder; and 14 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son Gilbert Arthur. Jr. who passed in 1972, a step-daughter Marilea Calloway and a brother Karl Schoenfelder. The Brother Larry Arrowood will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m. Friday July 13th at Apostolic Pentecostal Church located at 301 Indianapolis Ave. in Seymour. Friends and family may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church. There will be no graveside service, as Gilbert's request was cremation.
